Designing a great garage
The garage is usually the largest room in the house and the least designed. Everything ends up on the floor, which is why the single transformative principle is verticality: walls and ceiling can carry almost everything that currently blocks your car. Slatwall panels, ceiling racks and tall shelving reclaim the floor without throwing anything away.
Once storage leaves the floor, the garage can hold real ambitions: a workshop, a gym, a studio. Those uses demand the basics garages usually lack - light at 400+ lux over work areas, a sealed floor that sweeps clean, and insulation if you spend real time there. Treat it like a room and it behaves like one.
